Botox® serves a dual purpose: enhancing aesthetics by reducing wrinkles through muscle relaxation and providing relief for facial or jaw pain conditions, such as TMJD and chronic migraines.

How Botox® Works

BOTOX® Cosmetic offers a straightforward and gratifying solution for minimizing and preventing wrinkles. By addressing the repetitive muscle contractions associated with actions like squinting, smiling, and raising eyebrows, this treatment aims to achieve a smoother and more youthful appearance.

Botox® also proves effective in treating facial and jaw pain. The neurotoxin works by relaxing muscles and is often employed to address conditions such as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD) or chronic migraines, providing relief by reducing muscle tension in these areas. Thus, Botox® serves a dual purpose, offering both cosmetic enhancements and therapeutic benefits for individuals experiencing facial or jaw discomfort.

Why have Botox® at a dental office?

Having Botox® treatments at a dental office is becoming increasingly common. Dentists are trained in giving injections in the oral and facial areas, and they often have extensive experience with administering injections on a daily basis. This background makes them well-suited to perform Botox® treatments.

What to expect?

You can expect to first consult to discuss your goals and treatment needs. Your provider will clean the area and will use a tiny needle to inject the Botox® into the specific muscles of the face. The total number of injections will depend on your individual treatment plan. In most cases, dental Botox® treatment takes about 30-45 minutes to complete.

How long will it last?

In general, patients can start to see results as early as 3 to 4 days after injections, but for most patients, results will start 10 to 14 stays after treatment. The results last approximately 3-4 months.

Missoula Dental offers the convenience of seamlessly integrating your routine six month dental cleaning and exam with your Botox® appointment. Follow-up appointments, lasting approximately 20 minutes, can be conveniently scheduled at the conclusion of your cleaning appointment.
